{"id":33556,"date":"2017-10-24T15:38:31","date_gmt":"2017-10-24T13:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/spanish.rberzal.com\/coming-soon-viii-annual-gala-dinner\/"},"modified":"2025-11-06T17:49:51","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T16:49:51","slug":"coming-soon-viii-annual-gala-dinner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/spanish.rberzal.com\/es\/coming-soon-viii-annual-gala-dinner\/","title":{"rendered":"COMING SOON: VIII ANNUAL GALA DINNER"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are excited to announce that\u00a0<strong>our VIII\u00a0Annual Gala Dinner will be held on Wednesday 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0December 2017 at the beautiful Christ Church Spitalfields, <\/strong>located in the heart of the City of London and a stone\u2019s throw from Liverpool Street station.<\/p>\n<p>This corporate event is one of the most important activities that the Spanish Chamber organises each year and it is attended by leading\u00a0representatives from a wide range of both British and Spanish companies.\u00a0As tradition dictates, the event will be<strong>\u00a0presided by H.E. the Ambassador of Spain,\u00a0Mr.<\/strong> <strong>Carlos Bastarreche Sag\u00fces.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On this special occasion we are also very pleased to announce that <strong>Mr. Ant\u00f3nio Horta-Os\u00f3rio, Chief Executive Officer of Lloyds Banking Group will be attending as our Guest of Honour<\/strong>, and we would like to take this opportunity to introduce him.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5743\" src=\"https:\/\/spanishchamberofcommmerceingreatbritain.files.wordpress.com\/2017\/10\/antonio-horta-osorio-high-res-to-use.jpg\" alt=\"Antonio Horta-Osorio high res TO USE\" width=\"5184\" height=\"3456\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Horta-Os\u00f3rio started his career at Citibank Portugal where he was Head of Capital Markets. He then worked for Goldman Sachs in New York and London, before joining Grupo Santander as Chief Executive of Banco Santander de Neg\u00f3cios Portugal in 1993. He was additionally Chairman of Santander Totta until 2011, where he was CEO from 2000 -2006, while having been CEO of Banco Santander Brazil prior to that.<\/p>\n<p>Ant\u00f3nio joined the board of Lloyds Banking Group in January 2011 as an Executive Director and became Group Chief Executive on 1<sup>st<\/sup> March 2011. Previously a non-executive Director to the Court of the Bank of England, Ant\u00f3nio is currently a non\u2010executive Director of Exor N.V., (an investment company controlled by Italy\u2019s Agnelli family), Sociedade Francisco Manuel dos Santos B.V. (controlling shareholder of Jer\u00f3nimo Martins, Portugal and Poland\u2019s largest food distribution company) and Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Champalimaud (private bio medical research foundation) in Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014 the Government of Portugal awarded Ant\u00f3nio with the Order of Merit Gr\u00e3\u2010Cruz, which is the highest Order of Civil Merit. He serves on the CBI President\u2019s Committee and became Chairman of the Wallace Collection in 2015, a Prime Ministerial appointment. The Wallace Collection is one of Europe\u2019s most prestigious art collections.<\/p>\n<p>With such a remarkable Guest of Honour, we are certain that attendees will be delighted to hear Mr. Ant\u00f3nio Horta-Os\u00f3rio insight during his highly anticipated speech, as well as to have the opportunity to meet with him during the evening. Moreover, the Dinner will be held at one of London\u2019s most impressive venues: in the Nave of Christ Church Spitalfields. This stunning, oak-panelled space is certainly an architectural masterpiece that has been restored to enhance its authentic Baroque features, namely architect Nicholas Hawksmoor\u2019s bold symmetrical design which enhances the striking ceiling of intricate flower designs from which elegant chandeliers are hung. The grandiose Church is situated close to the famous Spitalifelds Market, Brick Lane and Columbia Road Flower Market and is very easily accessible by road, rail and tube.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please remember that places for this event are limited, so do not forget to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
