ABOUT US
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the United Kingdom was founded in London in December 1886 by Spanish and British merchants, industrialists and other professionals. They had one objective: advancing the economic and commercial relations between Spain and the United Kingdom.
More than 140 years later, the Chamber continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening the commercial ties between the two countries through its extensive membership network. Over time, we have expanded the variety of services we offer which support the development and promotion of investment between Spain and the UK.
Nowadays, the Spanish Chamber of Commerce is still an independent, private institution supported by its Members, which include Spanish, British, and international companies. The Chamber is a non-profit organisation primarily funded through membership fees.
Although the Chamber’s decisions and activities are independent of any administration, it holds an official status and is recognised by the Spanish Government. It also maintains a strong relationship with British institutions. The Chamber is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by its Members, and has a permanent body of staff working on the Chamber’s different projects.
